This is a short introduction that we will be using for all of our upcoming leather videos. We will soon be uploading videos of leather products being made.
How would you feel if you bought a custom, hand painted picture only to find that the "artist" simply slapped a few dabs of paint over someone else's finished painting, and claimed it as his own?
In years past, most amateur and even some professional exotic leather crafters did something very similar. They bought cheap leather craft kits and simply glued their snake hides to it. That is ok, to do, I suppose, if you are honest with your customers about it. We realize that there are some tanners out their that have no skill or talent when it comes to leather crafting. So this gives them a way to avoid doing their own leather work. We simply believe that those that do, should never call their products "handmade" or "custom". Even more so those that buy leather products that were already made before they bought them. Wallets that simply have snakeskin glued and stitched to an already made wallet for example. But this is just our opinion...
However, we decided that whenever possible, we wanted to avoid those ready made kits and make true handmade, and true custom products. Those products that we do make from kits (like belt buckles) we would not claim them to be "custom" or "handmade", even though we do still hand lace them.
